The success of Read Aloud America in Hawaii since 1995 is apparent as noted in the positive gains our schools have made in the area of reading and reading comprehension. My personal experience at Highlands Intermediate School both raised my level of awareness of your program as well as confirmed the success of your efforts. The buzz I heard that night was genuine support for reading now and for the future. You were able to give parents, teachers, administrators, and students a sense and appreciation of the "joy of reading as a life-long activity."

The Department of Education supports Read Aloud America. In addition, we will continue working with you as you implement this program throughout the State.
