Background Check Policy for Read Aloud America
Please put an X in the box below if you agree:In order to preserve the
safety and well being of the children participating in RAP programs, the
following policy has been adopted requiring background screening for all
volunteers. Federal and State laws require background checks for anyone who
works with children, the elderly and those with disabilities.
Background checks are mandatory for all volunteers effective immediately.
All volunteers will be required to undergo a background check prior to
service with Read Aloud America.
Cost for performing the appropriate background check is to be covered by
Read Aloud America.
If a background check reveals an arrest or criminal conviction, Read
Aloud America will inform you, and a final determination regarding
acceptance or continuation of services will be made with the applicant.
All information received from the Background Check from state and federal
law enforcement agencies will be used solely for the purpose of determining
an applicant’s eligibility as a volunteer participant with Read Aloud
America. Information obtained during this process is confidential.
